Fatty Liver Disease and Plant-Based Diets: A conversation with Dr. Meagan Gray. Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD) is a condition where fat builds up in the liver. This leads to liver damage and scarring. Roughly 30% of American adults are thoughts to have NAFLD. It can range from simple fat build-up in the liver to liver cirrhosis. In fact, it is one of the reasons for liver transplants. The most significant risk factors are weight, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. One of the most effective treatments for fatty liver disease is weight loss.

In this interview, we sit down with Dr. Meagan Gray to talk about the role of whole foods, Plant-Based diets, and fatty liver disease. Dr. Gray is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama. She specializes in both hepatology and transplant hepatology.
