This leads to liver damage and scarring. Roughly 30% of American adults are thoughts to have NAFLD. It can range from simple fat build-up in the liver to liver cirrhosis. In fact, it is one of the reasons for liver transplants. The most significant risk factors are weight, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. One of the most effective treatments for fatty liver disease is weight loss.
